The HP Photosmart 320. 2.1 Megapixel, SD Card 4AA batteries. "Oh No Theo, Not another HP" You know, I finished my HP collection not a few days ago on this blog and did a splash promo. I thought I'd be done. NOPE. I almost avoided this one, it was a 4 AA battery affair. However, it was only 3 bucks. It likely sold for $200 (Then $100) when it was new. Oh, twist my arm. The lanyard was not on the camera either, it was still in its plastic. It also came with it's instructions, a sealed HP "dock adapter" (a piece of plastic if I want to hook direct to a printer) and a "USB TO PRINTER" (worthless to me) cable sealed. Plus, a 32 MEG SD card. So, $3. Come on, that's a dollar menu lunch. That won't even get me a Big Mac. I installed the lanyard and here's a sampling of the pictures I got in the field:

IM000453.JPGIM000456.JPGIM000473.JPGAll righty then. Same 2.1 style, old tech, black pastiness in the photos. This is another HP with a fixed focus so don't ask me about close up pictures. Other than the softness that old tech digicams have and some of the smudginess around bright colors, I thought this HP preformed pretty good indeed. It was another cam that was nearly mint. Maybe they upgraded shortly after buying this and found any other name brand camera did better. There is a "Good, Better, Best" mode you can set, all of the above were taken in "Best" mode and you only get about 33 shots with a 32Meg chip. There were a few pictures on the chip from the previous owner that looked like they were taken when this cam was new and they were in "Better" mode. I enjoyed seeing "0" and my camera telling me my chip was full. No camera has done that to me in a long time. All in all, a good cam, but 4AA..and well...you know... Plus, odd sizing. You can have a 1G SD chip, but it won't see a 2G. Plus any pics taken with this HP cannot be seen by other HPs. Leave it to my Fuji to see them all.
