Life Savers Sewing Kitz

100_3001.JPGFelling all festive? I talked about why saving these tins is as stupid a thing as saving watches without batteries. So, I always find a reason to keep them, like stuffing them with trash. This one has a special use. So is this really junk? Pretty much.

100_3002.JPGSince I can remember, Mom would get us "Sweet Storybooks" for our Christmas stockings. Those are cardboard book shaped containers that contained 10 total rolls of Life Savers candy. It would always come with two "five flavors" rolls, two "wild cherry" rolls and two butterscotch rolls. Then there was mint flavors or tropical, the other rolls varied.  They had the story books in 1990 but in addition they had collector's tins.  I think I bought this tin one for myself because of the tin. I've said before, I'm a sucker for random tins.  The Sweet Storybook is still sold every year. First they went to 8 rolls, then they went to 5 roll one sided books with bigger rolls. I used to keep these books but recently tossed them all rather than taking up junk space. Most of the time, the candy itself doesn't get eaten. It's delicious, but they just don't taste good with beer.

100_3004.JPGSo what is in it? It's my sewing kit. I've sewn buttons. Pants buttons. Shirt Buttons. Buttons on jackets. I've also sewn holes in various clothing. I've sewn the crotches on 100% polyester retail pants. I've sewn my heart to my sleeve. I've reaped what I've sewn. ...I'm out of crappy jokes.

100_3005.JPGNo needles because they always get lost. Just a few "retail" buttons left on this 80 cent card of buttons. I have a few random others. When I had a few retail shirts to wear, I kept them going until they were threadbare in the elbows. (Lots of putting the elbows on the desk with my head down to cry that I was in retail. ) Not much else to say. My sewing skill that I taught myself helped out a bit later. This kit doesn't get used anymore. Hence, now junk.

100_3009.JPGThe kit did contain another dead watch. A digital "Aqualite" which was a Wally special. I remember it as a good watch that suffers from the same things every cheap digital watch I've owned suffers. Buttons became hard to press. Plastic band cracked. This one has a bonus. When I replaced it with a steel band, I caught my arm on something and ripped it from my wrist, damaging the plastic.  I should put this in with my others. Someday. I should throw this out. Someday. Pack rat. I hear they are looking for people that keep cheap watches with dead batteries  for a spin off of "Hoarders" called  "Hoarders: LCD Cleveland".  Hmmmmmm.
